I couldn’t tell you the amount of boards I’ve snapped in my day. So it’s good to know there are people like Tim Piumarta who makes skateboards that “last a ridiculously long time.” He has to understand everything from force and kinetic energy to measurement and algebra in order to make extremely strong, long-lasting skateboards.

Get on Board with Skate It This November

Sunday, November 16th, 2008

Electronic Arts, the makers of the award-winning Skate It videogame will hit retail stores starting November 19th in North America and November 20th in Europe for the Wii(TM) and Nintendo DS(TM). With intuitive Wii remote, nunchuck and DS stylus controls and the optional use of the Wii Balance Board, Skate It delivers a fun and unique skateboarding experience for skate fans and gamers of all ages.

Skate It brings gamers back to San Vanelona, a city that’s been safely evacuated, but left in ruins after being hit by a series of crazy events. Here, players are rediscovering their favourite spots, getting worked in Hall of Meat, and earning the opportunity to travel the world, all on their path to becoming Thrasher Magazine’s Skater of the Year. In Skate It, gamers will be able to make skate spots their own by moving objects like ramps, rails, and benches to fit their individual skating styles. The game also boasts a variety of multiplayer challenges, including Best Trick and Best Line, which will have players ripping it up with their friends as they prove their skateboarding prowess.

Skate It recently received the “Best Wii Game” award at the Games Convention tradeshow in Leipzig, Germany. Skate It was also nominated for Best Sports game for the “Game Critics Awards: Best of E3 2008″. Skate It is developed by EA Montreal in Montreal, Quebec and Black Box in Vancouver, British Columbia and is rated “E” for Everyone by the ESRB and 7+ by PEGI for Wii and 3+ by PEGI for Nintendo DS.

Indian Land, SC (Vocus/PRWEB ) October 14, 2008 — Steelroots, one of the leading producers of television programs targeting Christian youth and one of the few media-based ministries focusing on action sports, today announced that it will debut a new reality TV series called “The Uprising” on Thursday, October 16th at 5:00pm EST on INSP – The Inspiration Network. “The Uprising” follows pro skaters Jay Haizlip, Christian Hosoi, and Brian Sumner as they comb skate parks, backyard pools, and other hangouts in an effort to spread the Gospel. The series was birthed out of Haizlip’s The Sanctuary Church in Huntington Beach, California where he serves as Senior Pastor and his “The Uprising is Here” events, which brings pro skateboarders, live music, and the faith message to young people across the country. The events feature Hosoi and Sumner, as well as other pro skateboarders.

According to Haizlip, every episode will be filled with light, energy, excitement, and most of all, purpose.

“We’re excited to partner with Steelroots for ‘The Uprising,’” said Haizlip. “Christian, Brian, and I have traveled across the world ministering to the needs of people and we know that there is a desperate need for this series. People are struggling with real issues like alcohol and drug addiction, stints in jail, abuse, and problems with parents. We’re going to offer them hope through this show and let them know that God is on their side.”

The first episode of the series runs the gamut from skate sessions with family and friends in a backyard pool, an encounter with a hitch hiker, and a not-so-typical “run-in” with the law at the Santa Ana Skate Park.

“This isn’t your grandmother’s Christian TV,” said Hosoi. “This is in-your-face modern day evangelism that gets down in the dirt with people to help them wrestle through their issues.”

Sumner agrees, and also sees the series as an opportunity for the trio to use their skateboarding gifts for a greater good.

“We’ve all been blessed to use our skateboarding talents to reach a lot of people, and now we’re using our talents as an outlet to spread the Gospel,” said Sumner. “The three of us have faced difficult challenges, and we know that a relationship with God is what makes us all overcomers.”

In addition to a faith message, “The Uprising” also will showcase skate tricks and events and feature appearances by other pro skaters like Paul Rodriguez, Chad Tim Tim, Ray Barbee, Jereme Rogers, Josh Harmony, and more.

“The Uprising” joins other original programs from Steelroots that include the Christian Hip Hop show “Mixx Master’s Lounge,” the Christian music video show “Steelroots Top 10 Countdown,” “The Steelroots Show,” and specials featuring popular athletes and music artists.
