Some of todays best skateboarders riping it up!!
I took a recent road trip with a few fellow skaters to a fairly new skatepark in Upstate New York, just outside of Ithaca, NY.
The park is located in Central Lansing New York, next door to Rogue’s Harbor Restaurant and Bar, and Gimme! Coffee, just outside of Ithaca – only about seven miles north on Rt34/East Shore Drive. The skatepark is right across the street from a great deli called The Sub Shop, and just down the road from a pizza and ice cream shop, Lakebreeze Pizzeria. However, plan ahead and bring your own food on Sunday, they are both closed.
East Shore Skate Park is a skate and bike park built to have fun and progress. It is a place for new, young up and coming skaters/riders to learn – and also a great place for advanced riders to meet up for a good session.
The building that houses the park was once a grocery store the closed in the early 90’s. The building sat empty for years, until the current owner bought it with hopes of storing heavy equipment. Overall the park has a nice flow to it and even though it is heavily populated with BMX riders you wouldn’t really notice because of the way the park was built and layed out. The ramps are good and solid and the halfpipe is nothing less than awesome and built very very well, no kinks that I could feel. The coping was a bit smaller than what I am used to, but it was nothing a few runs couldn’t cure.
The street course is equally as fun although I like to stick to the halfpipes thease days, the younger skaters were ripping it up.
The locals are also very friendly and the owner was super friendly and happy to show us around. They are constantly having events and even have a spring break camp coming up in April. I would recomend anyone who is near the Ithaca area to check out the place as I have been to a few parks lately that have honestly been a disapointment but East Shore Skatepark is definitly not one of them.

The series, called “The Uprising,” brings a bold look to Christian television for the next generation. The show will be available to more than 125 million people worldwide through various television networks and online at steelroots.com.
Indian Land, SC (Vocus/PRWEB ) October 14, 2008 — Steelroots, one of the leading producers of television programs targeting Christian youth and one of the few media-based ministries focusing on action sports, today announced that it will debut a new reality TV series called “The Uprising” on Thursday, October 16th at 5:00pm EST on INSP – The Inspiration Network. The series also can be viewed 24/7 online at www.steelroots.com.
“The Uprising” follows pro skaters Jay Haizlip, Christian Hosoi, and Brian Sumner as they comb skate parks, backyard pools, and other hangouts in an effort to spread the Gospel. The series was birthed out of Haizlip’s The Sanctuary Church in Huntington Beach, California where he serves as Senior Pastor and his “The Uprising is Here” events, which brings pro skateboarders, live music, and the faith message to young people across the country. The events feature Hosoi and Sumner, as well as other pro skateboarders.

According to Haizlip, every episode will be filled with light, energy, excitement, and most of all, purpose.
“We’re excited to partner with Steelroots for ‘The Uprising,’” said Haizlip. “Christian, Brian, and I have traveled across the world ministering to the needs of people and we know that there is a desperate need for this series. People are struggling with real issues like alcohol and drug addiction, stints in jail, abuse, and problems with parents. We’re going to offer them hope through this show and let them know that God is on their side.”
The first episode of the series runs the gamut from skate sessions with family and friends in a backyard pool, an encounter with a hitch hiker, and a not-so-typical “run-in” with the law at the Santa Ana Skate Park.
“This isn’t your grandmother’s Christian TV,” said Hosoi. “This is in-your-face modern day evangelism that gets down in the dirt with people to help them wrestle through their issues.”
Sumner agrees, and also sees the series as an opportunity for the trio to use their skateboarding gifts for a greater good.
“We’ve all been blessed to use our skateboarding talents to reach a lot of people, and now we’re using our talents as an outlet to spread the Gospel,” said Sumner. “The three of us have faced difficult challenges, and we know that a relationship with God is what makes us all overcomers.”
In addition to a faith message, “The Uprising” also will showcase skate tricks and events and feature appearances by other pro skaters like Paul Rodriguez, Chad Tim Tim, Ray Barbee, Jereme Rogers, Josh Harmony, and more.
“The Uprising” joins other original programs from Steelroots that include the Christian Hip Hop show “Mixx Master’s Lounge,” the Christian music video show “Steelroots Top 10 Countdown,” “The Steelroots Show,” and specials featuring popular athletes and music artists. Tony Hawk’s Secret Skatepark Tour had an amazing group of friends showing up at skateparks unannounced, surprising the locals, ripping parks in Oregon, Montana, Indiana and the Cayman Islands, and culminating in a big demo in Athens, Georgia. With excited fans calling their friends, it doesn’t take long before the parks are overflowing with hundreds of skaters, fans, TV news crews and even police.
Once enough tricks get thrown down, it’s time to move on to the next park. On their way, the guys stop off to surprise fans at their homes and even drop by an unsuspecting middle school. Tony Hawk’s Secret Skatepark Tour 2 gave you an inside look at the athletes’ life on the road as they ride some of the best skateparks, travel, and pick up some friends in a cross-country quest to enjoy what they do best!
