From October 31 – November 2 at Seattle’s KeyArena 150 of the world’s best pros in Skateboard, BMX, and Inline Skating will vie for their share of the $600,000 purse and title of LG Action Sports World Champion.

The defending LG Action Sports World Champion in Skateboard Vert, Pierre-Luc Gagnon (Montreal, Canada), has claimed all the most notable titles this season (the Maloof Money Cup, the X Games and the Mountain Dew Cup) and plans to top it off with the 2008 LG World Championship title. Skateboard Vert prelims take place on Saturday afternoon, with the finals on Sunday.

BMX Vert will feature a tough competition as all the competitors chase the top man of the last four years, 37 year-old Jamie Bestwick (Nottingham, England). Challenging him during the Saturday evening final will be a talented group of bikers including Simon Tabron (Newquay, England), Chad Kagy (Gilroy, Calif.), Jimmy Walker (Chicago, Illinois), Melbourne, Australia’s Steven McCann, and Paso Robles, California’s John Parker.

Rodolfo Ramos of Cascavel-Pavel, Brazil returns to the LG World Championships hoping to repeat his 2007 performance as the Skateboard Street champion. Leading Skateboarder Promotes Panasonic High Tech Headphones Tony Hawk may be the godfather of skateboarding, but there’s a new kid on the block who is taking the sport by storm. His name is Ryan Sheckler; and at 17, this skateboarding phenom is well on his way to superstardom. Ryan is the two-time defending champion of the AST Dew Tour, recognized as the premier sports tour in the action sports category. “When you put the leading consumer electronics company with the leading skateboarder, you spark a flame of excitement,” says Tom Hantson, national product category manager of Panasonic headphones. “Panasonic’s sponsorship of Ryan Sheckler and the AST Dew Tour reflects our commitment to this fast-growing segment of the sports world and its commitment to providing products for today’s active digital lifestyle.” Ryan will also be lending his significant marketing might to promote Panasonic’s other cutting edge consumer electronics products, including the industry’s leading HD flat panel television line-up, Blu-ray, home theater systems and digital still cameras. Ryan Sheckler holds first place medals in the X Games, World Cup Skateboarding Championships, AST Dew Tour, Globe World Cup and Gravity Games. He is famous for his unique “Shecklair” move, a combination of a kick-flip and an Indy air completed with the legs fully extended.
